Broadband light (BBL) treatments are clinically proven to reduce redness, rosacea, eliminate brown/age spots and pigmentation, reduce wrinkles, and help your natural beauty shine through. If you’re searching for a radiant complexion with smoother, clearer, younger-looking skin, you’ve met your match! At Interior Dermatology Centre of Kelowna, British Columbia, we work with you to help you turn back time on your appearance while ensuring healthy and attractive skin on the face and the body!
The Benefits of BroadBand Light Treatments
Stop aging in it’s tracks! Whether you want to reduce redness & rosacea or brown spots & pigmentation or revitalize and maintain already treated skin, BBL treatments use light energy to stimulate your body’s collagen production, delivering dramatic results from the inside out. BBL is a non-invasive procedure that diminishes sun damage, fine lines, acne, enlarged pores, and more – with little-to-no downtime.
In 3-5 treatments, BBL can give your skin a firmer, smoother, more even appearance. It helps to treat and correct:
Active Acne & Acne Scarring
Brown/Age Spots
Sun Damage
Hyperpigmentation
Fine Lines and Wrinkles
Freckles
Redness & Rosacea
Broken Blood Vessels
Flushing
Small Facial Vessels
Enlarged Pores
Skin Laxity
Treatment Guide & Expectations for BroadBand Light
BroadBand Light Treatments can safely be used on the face, neck, chest, arms, legs, back, and hands. Side effects are rare and usually tend to be mild. While many patients go straight back to work after their appointments, you may experience some redness and swelling.
-
Our board certified dermatologists will help you determine the best treatment plan for your unique skin goals. In this consultation, the dermatologist will examine your skin and choose the proper wavelengths of light to target your concerns (i.e. brown spots & pigmentation due to sun-damage, red vessels, acne, enlarged pores, etc.). There will be time to talk through what to expect, side effects and expected results and, of course, answer any questions you may have.
-
We cleanse your skin and mark any areas to be avoided (i.e moles, tattoos, microblading, etc.). We apply a clear gel to the skin, then kit you out with a super stylish headband and safety goggles.
-
The treatment begins! Broadband light is precisely delivered in quick, mostly-painless pulses across the skin. The treatment may take only a few minutes for smaller treatment areas, such as cheeks or hands, or up to an hour for larger areas, like the legs.
Once the treatment is completed, gel is cleaned and a hydrating cream and sunscreen is applied.
-
BBL treatments target pigment and vessels by using light energy to stimulate your body’s collagen production meaning fresher, younger-looking skin.
-
There may be a very brief “hot snap” sensation, but that feeling subsides almost immediately. State of the art cooling technology means most patients find this treatment quite comfortable.
-
One of the big upsides to BBL treatments is the minimal downtime. Depending on the nature of the treatment, there may be some redness and swelling afterwards, but we find many patients even put on makeup immediately after their treatment.
-
When performed at our clinic, under the supervision of a board certified dermatologist, our patients rarely experience side effects. That being said, potential mild side effects may include, redness, bruising, swelling, temporary darkening of pigment, experiencing a “heat” sensation.
-
Immediate results will start to emerge within days to weeks of your first treatment (for redness and brown spots). For best results, a series of treatments is recommended to boost collagen production and address anti-aging. Recommendation is to do these treatments regularly over the years.
