Get the Skinny on Skin Tags
Skin tags can be unsightly and uncomfortable. While these growths are harmless, at the Interior Dermatology Centre of Kelowna, British Columbia, we offer simple and effective skin tag removal options to eliminate those bothersome growths. Our doctors work alongside our team of professionals to provide skin care for patients and assist with specific concerns such as the growth, development, testing, and removal of skin tags and other common changes that may develop on the skin.
What to Expect with Skin Tags
A skin tag is a fleshy growth made up of blood vessels and collagen fibres. They are benign (won’t cause cancer) but can become inflamed, make people feel self-conscious, and just get in the way of your day-to-day life. They are most common in areas where clothing or jewelry causes friction with the skin. In some, family history and age impact their growth. There are various types of skin tags that can develop on the skin, so working with a provider to identify and get rid of skin tags is critical to addressing the issue. If we have any concerns about a skin growth that may indicate skin cancer, our doctors will perform a biopsy to send to a lab for further evaluation. Benign skin tags can be removed in a few different ways with our assistance.
